Greener Facilities Management
Businesses have a responsibility to work sustainably and that’s important to both us and our clients. We continue to improve on best practices; filtering ideas down from our senior members of staff to all employees, with the aim of raising awareness of environmental issues and enlisting their support. On every level we are working to enhance employee understanding of environmental sustainability by providing clear direction.

Small changes go a long way, and that’s why little things matter. At Boxer we like attention to detail, particularly when it gives results. When it comes to working sustainably our clients can be assured that we meet or exceed all the environmental legislation relating to facilities management. What has been our environmental focus recently?
Electric vehicles
We have proudly adopted an environmentally sound transport strategy. This included adding electric vehicles to our fleet and so reducing polluting emissions to the environment. Our policy is to employ staff locally to minimise transport to work and promote remote working where possible.
Environmentally friendly cleaning products
Our customers care about using eco-friendly cleaning supplies, so we aim to purchase sustainable products wherever feasible. We continually assess the environmental impact of all our operations and feel that this is an area where we can be greener now and in the future.
Reduce, reuse, recycle
We are reducing plastic waste and minimising all waste through efficient use of time, materials, and energy. We have implemented sound recycling practices and actively promote recycling both internally and among our customers and suppliers.
Looking at areas to improve our resource efficiency includes our window cleaning system which uses less water, reducing energy consumption by implementing a programme of planned preventative maintenance and working with our clients to update assets that are more energy efficient where appropriate. Older buildings were never designed with sustainability in mind, and we take improvements one step at a time; exploring opportunities for innovative technologies, products and processes that drive improved environmental outcomes.
Why is sustainability in facilities management important?
Bad decisions impact negatively on our environment, so working sustainably is paramount to us, our clients and ultimately the planet. As a green focused FM contractor we are helping our clients to conduct sustainability analytics and reduce their carbon footprint.
And for a greener future? We will be maintaining ISO 14001 certification for our principal businesses and progressing further certifications for our products and services as appropriate. There will be more changes along the way and we always welcome ideas and improvements.
